Privacy notice
Effective October 11, 2026.
FuaFlow Vault exists to keep what’s yours where only you can open it. The short answer to “what do you do with my data?” is: we can’t read it. Your vaults and your messages are encrypted on your device, and the little that goes through our server travels sealed and is deleted as soon as it’s delivered. This page explains the details.
Data controller
FuaFlow Vault is developed and operated by José Arturo Ornelas Brand, the controller of the personal data described in this notice, located at Calle San José de los Reynoso 115, Col. Bosques del Prado Sur, 20130 Aguascalientes, Ags., Mexico. For any question about this notice or your data, write to hola@fuaflow.com or call +52 449 594 0641.
What we don’t do
The app asks for no account with an email or phone number, uses no analytics, shows no ads, ships no third-party trackers, and never sells or shares your information.
Where your data lives
On your device, under the system’s data protection. Inside the app’s private storage: your vaults (encrypted with AES-256-GCM: by default for you, with your identity; or with a password, or with the keys of the people they’re addressed to), your chat history and its photos and files (also encrypted at rest), and your verified photos and videos. In the system Keychain: your identity (a key pair generated on your phone and sent to no one) and your previous keys (if you restored another one), your contacts, your emergency circle, the people you blocked, vault passwords you ask it to remember, and your settings. Nobody but you can open that information, including us.
If you choose a backup folder, the app copies your vaults there (as they are, encrypted), your verified photos and videos (signed, not encrypted: as you see them in the app) and, if you create it, your password-protected identity backup. That folder is yours — the “FuaFlow Vault” folder the app creates in your iCloud Drive if you tap “Save to iCloud Drive”, or another one you choose on your iPhone or in your iCloud Drive — and we have no access to it: what goes to iCloud is kept by Apple in your account, under its own policies. You can stop copying anytime in Settings → Backup; what’s already there stays.
What leaves your device, and how
- Chat and location sharing on the same network. When your contact is on the same Wi-Fi, messages go straight from device to device, end-to-end encrypted. So that people nearby can find you, while chat is on, the app announces your profile name and your public key on the local network: any phone with FuaFlow Vault on that same network can connect to yours and receive your profile photo and the list of your devices (their name and system, for example “Ana’s iPad · iPadOS”). This happens even if that person isn’t your contact. The app only shows you your contacts and only delivers messages from them.
- Nearby devices. A sealed message for someone who isn’t connected may travel on other devices running FuaFlow Vault until it reaches them. Those devices can’t open it.
- Relay server (mailbox). If your contact isn’t nearby, the sealed copy of your text messages and your live location waits in a mailbox on our server until its owner picks it up (chat photos and files don’t go through the mailbox: they only travel directly, on the same Wi-Fi): it’s deleted as soon as they confirm they got it, and after 7 days at most. The server can’t read the content and doesn’t know who sent it; the mailbox is identified by a fingerprint of the recipient’s public key, and only whoever holds the secret key can empty it; to check that, the server receives the public key of whoever opens it. To prevent abuse, the server uses your IP address only in memory, at that moment, and keeps nothing but aggregate counts. The server is in the United States, with our hosting provider (Railway), which logs technical data about each connection — such as the IP address and the time — to run its service. You can turn it off in Chat → “Use the relay server”; your messages and live location then travel only over the local network.
- Your linked devices. Your contacts, your history and your verified photos (and your vaults, when you ask for them) are synced encrypted, over the same Wi-Fi, only with the devices you linked yourself.
- Purchases. Buying or subscribing to Pro is processed by Apple on your App Store account, under its own policies. To confirm it is active, an anonymous purchase identifier is shared with our validation provider (RevenueCat); it includes neither your vaults, nor your messages, nor your name or identity.
- Reports. If you report a message, a request or an alert, the app opens an email to hola@fuaflow.com containing what you choose to send: what you report, the name shown and the sender’s public key. The email also carries your email address and the app and iOS versions, as do emails from Settings → Support. We use it only to handle the report: we keep the email while we handle it and, if we expel a key, a minimal record (the key, the date and the reason). If the content may be a crime, we may give the report to the authorities. If your iPhone has no mail account, the app copies the report for you to paste anywhere. The list of people you block stays on your device.
- Expelled keys. Every time you open the app (and, if it stays open, every 20 hours) the app downloads from fuaflow.com a public list, signed by us, of the public keys expelled for breaking the rules, and drops anything coming from them. The download carries nothing of yours; our web host logs it like any visit (IP address and time).
- What you choose to share. When you share a vault, a verified photo or your location, or send an SOS by text message, it travels through the channel you pick (Messages, AirDrop, email, your carrier…) and under that service’s rules.
Verified photos and videos
A verified photo or video carries, signed inside its proof, the time, the GPS location, and the name and identifier of the Wi-Fi network where it was taken. Whoever receives the file can see that data. If “Be a witness for my contacts” is on (it comes on) and the app is open in the foreground, your device may co-sign as a witness a verified photo a contact takes at that moment on the same network. The first time a contact asks, the app asks you whether you want to be their witness; it signs only if you accept: only photos taken at that moment (up to 3 minutes apart), at most 3 times per hour per contact, and it tells you each time. That photo then carries your profile name, your location and your Wi-Fi network’s identifier. It never answers strangers or while the app is in the background (your own linked devices can co-sign for each other from the background, with no hourly limit). Turn it off in Settings → Security.
SOS and alerts
An SOS or a public alert carries your profile name, your message and your location. It’s announced on the local network to nearby devices running FuaFlow Vault (any of them can see a public alert), and the SOS text message is sent by you, from your phone, to the emergency contacts you chose: the app can’t send text messages on its own. The safety check-in works only on your device, with a local notification. If a nearby contact taps “I’m a witness”, their device signs that it received your SOS (with their time and, if they share it, their location and Wi-Fi network) and sends you that signature: your device keeps it encrypted in your SOS history, along with the time, reason and place of each SOS (the last 50). That history never leaves your device, and you can delete it in Circle & SOS.
System permissions
Each is requested only when you use its feature: Camera (verified photos and videos, and scanning the code when you link a device), Microphone (only while recording a verified video), Photos (choose photos and videos to keep in a vault, and save to your library what you decide to export), Location (only while you use the app — where a verified photo was taken, the SOS, and sharing your location with your circle for a limited time), Local network (finding nearby devices for chat, Wi-Fi transfers, witnesses and alerts), Notifications (the local reminder for your safety check-in) and Face ID (only if you turn on the app lock; verification is done by the operating system, and FuaFlow Vault never sees or stores biometric data). Deny any of them and the app keeps working — only that feature is disabled.
System backups
If your system backup is on (such as iCloud Backup), your device may include the app’s data and the Keychain’s (such as your secret key, your contacts and your settings) in that backup, which travels encrypted; your vaults and your chat history stay encrypted. Chat photos and files and your verified photos are not part of that backup; keep them with the backup folder. That process is governed by your operating system.
Other people’s data
The names, keys and phone numbers of your contacts and your circle that you keep in the app belong to you, and it’s your responsibility to handle them in accordance with applicable law. FuaFlow Vault has no access to them.
How long data is kept and how to delete it
What’s on your device stays there until you delete it. Mailbox envelopes are deleted when they’re picked up, and after 7 days at most. Deleting the app erases what’s stored inside it — vaults, messages and verified photos — but not the copies in your backup folder, which are yours to delete in Files. What’s in the Keychain (your identity and keys, contacts, circle, blocked people, remembered passwords and settings) iOS keeps on your device, and the app gets it back if you reinstall. To erase everything, Keychain included, use Settings → Security → “Erase all my data” before deleting the app: it removes your identity and keys, contacts, circle, blocked people, remembered passwords, check-in, settings, vaults, chats and verified photos from this device. It doesn’t touch your backup folder or your subscription, and it doesn’t notify the mailbox or your other devices. Anything already in the mailbox is deleted after 7 days at most, and if this device was linked, also remove it from your main device.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, object to its processing, or withdraw your consent by writing to hola@fuaflow.com. Since almost everything lives only on your device, in most cases you can see, correct or delete it yourself from the app.
Minors
FuaFlow Vault is meant for people 16 and older. It is not directed at children under 16.
